OMEGA LAUNCHES A SPECIAL COLLECTOR’S TIMEPIECE TO MARK THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF JAMES BOND IN FILM
James Bond has amassed quite a watch collection during his 50 years on the silver screen – from Rolexes to Breitlings and Seikos. The suave spy’s choice of timepiece has come to generate almost as much interest as the films themselves. Nowadays, Omega has the honour of being 007’s watch of choice.
To celebrate this partnership and the 50th anniversary of the Bond film franchise, the brand is launching two special editions of the Seamaster 300m – first worn by Pierce Brosnan’s Bond in GoldenEye in 1995.
The stainless steel watch comes in two sizes – 41mm and 36.25mm – and is dripping in Bond references. The case back has been stamped with a gun-barrel design (reminiscent of the iconic opening sequence in Bond movies) and a bullet motif on the rotor, which can be seen through a central sapphire crystal.
The dial features a recurring 007 logo motif and the 50-minute marker on the bezel is red to denote the 50th anniversary. And for anyone who believes that diamonds are forever, the smaller version has a single diamond index at 7 o’clock.
Aside from the special features, the watch retains the same technical characteristics as the standard Seamaster 300m – a unidirectional rotating bezel, helium escape valve, 300m water-resistance, and an automatic movement with a Co-Axial escapement.
The larger version is limited to 11,007 pieces and the smaller to a run of 3,007. Watches to leave Bond fans shaken and stirred.
