In 1904, iconic watchmaking pioneer, Louis Cartier, was asked by his friend Alberto Santos Dumont, a Brazilian aviator, if there could ever be a watch that was readable while in-flight. That friend? Louis Cartier met the wish of his friend, and from there the Cartier de Santos collection was born.
A spontaneous question from a friend was the catalyst that would change the future of watchmaking. Since then, the Santos collection has kept up to date with the latest innovations and technology from the watchmaking world, however, the aesthetic and design of the iconic watch has long remained the same.
Celebrating its 114th anniversary this year, Cartier introduced Santos de Cartier collection at SIHH that is to replace the current Santos 100 collection. The latest take on the classic timepiece now features two sizes, medium (35.1mm) and large (39.8mm), with the introduction of a variety of metal options including stainless steel, pink and yellow gold or two-tone strap of steel and yellow gold. The new Cartier QuickSwitch functionality introduced this year allows true versatility, allowing a quick and easy swap of the strap, meaning the timepiece is ready for any occasion.
Exclusive to Watches of Switzerland, you can now receive an additional complimentary strap when you purchase the Santos de Cartier between 5th – 8th April in our showrooms only. Contact your nearest Cartier stockist to book an appointment and view the collection.
