WATCHES OF SWITZERLAND NOW STOCKING 1948-INSPIRED OLYMPIC SEAMASTER
Omega, official timekeeper at next year’s Olympics, has launched a vintage-inspired limited edition watch called the Seamaster 1948 Co-Axial ‘London 2012’, which will be in Watches of Switzerland stores this autumn.
The original Seamaster was launched in 1948, the same year London last hosted the Olympics. Fittingly, Omega was the official timekeeper that year, and next year’s Olympics will be the 25th time the brand has timed the games.
The new watch is an officially certified chronometre, equipped with Omega’s highly accurate Co-Axial escapement. The movement is a far cry from the one housed in the original 1948 model, but by contrast, the watch case and dial design loyally recall the vintage look and feel of the first Seamaster.
This highly collectable piece is cast in stainless steel with a classic silver dial, and the case back features a gold medallion embossed with the London 2012 Olympic Games logo.
