Be Part Of The Adventure : Breitling x Deus Ex Machina Top Time Deus
By Sarah Jayne Potter | 2 minute read
Luxury watch brand Breitling have just announced their latest partnership, and with that, the release of a brand new model to celebrate. They are collaborating with Australian lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina - god from the machine, and have revealed their new retro inspired Top Time Deus, perfect for the adventuring watch collector.
As part of this exciting new partnership, Breitling is now also the official timekeeper of the Deus Swank Rally – the epic motorcycle championship celebrating vintage bikes in diverse locations around the world, including Italy, France, Australia, and Bali. But the Top Time Deus Limited Edition isn’t just for bikers, as Breitling CEO Georges Kern points out.
Bikers, boarders, surfers, digital nomads … this is a timepiece for dynamic people of action, purpose, and style. Our versatile Top Time Deus celebrates having the freedom to explore the world your way, at your pace.Georges Kern
Deus Ex Machina roared into Australia’s cultural consciousness in 2006, with some neatly customized motorcycles and a quaint notion that doing something is more fun than just owning something. Deus Ex Machina is a step bigger than a brand: it’s a culture. So it’s a symbiotic relationship with Breitling, who are all about pushing the boundaries and have strong roots in being involved in sporting, athletic, and adventures since their beginning.
Co-designed with Deus Ex Machina, the Top Time Deus chronograph is a nod to Breitling’s original 1960s edition and a true tribute to the nomad spirit. The first Breitling Top Time had a clear mission – suiting the needs of young and active professionals with a range of ultra-modern chronographs. The retro vibe of today’s edition pays homage to it’s ancestor, while still remaining modern for the needs of today. It’s not about keeping time, but rather expanding it whenever adventure beckons.
The Deus philosophy recalls an era before the various pursuits of fun – motorcycling, surfing, skateboarding. All are welcomed under the Deus roof.Dare Jennings, Founder Of Deus Ex Machina
Collectors of all ages will adore the new piece. From those who love their horology history and covet vintage and retro inspired designs, to those who like bold and bright watches that make a statement. The timepiece features a racing-themed calfskin leather strap and its silver dial displays yellow and orange details, squircle-shaped chronograph counters, and the Deus logo and its adage “In benzin veritas” – offset in white on its black tachymeter scale.
The back of its 41-millimeter stainless-steel case features the iconic Deus artwork of a retro-looking motorcyclist in full flight designed by Deus creative director Carby Tuckwell. It is powered by the Breitling Caliber 23, a COSCcertified chronometer with a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
Perhaps the quirkiest detail though, and one that truly makes this a unique piece, is its chronograph hand in the shape of a lightning bolt. And like lightning, you’ve got to be fast: there are only 1,500 of these available!
